When this portrait was completed 7-year-old Sabaline Estiven had survived the January 12th, 2010 earthquake in Haiti. She was staying in a makeshift shelter with her family in Pont-Rouge Displaced Persons Camp outside of Port-au-Prince.
This series of seven large portraits of Haitian earthquake survivors are based off the work of award-winning photographer Q. Sakamaki. In 2010 Q. and I collaborated on an exhibit and auction benefitting rebuilding efforts in Haiti.
