At the time this portrait was created, 30 year old Apollon Ralpho was staying in a makeshift shelter with six other family members at the Pont-Rouge Displaced Persons Camp outside of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He lost his uncle in the January 12th, 2010 earthquake.
This series of 7 large portraits of Haitian earthquake survivors are based off the work of award-winning photographer Q. Sakamaki. In 2010 Q. and I collaborated on an exhibit and auction benefitting rebuilding efforts in Haiti.
