"Inclemental Weather 2" by Krista McCurdy
Although always a fan of botanical imagery, I found myself wanting to push the imagery a little more. Working with paint and transparencies, I repeatedly scratched lines and layered paint to create images that remind me of industrial walls in cities, or simply surfaces in an urban environment. My technique adds the depth of color that urban environments have.
Cyanotype printing is an alternative photography process that uses sunlight to expose the image. I developed a way of taking the traditional cyanotype process and altering the process so that instead of a normal blue and white print, I could get varied shades of blue, green, sometimes even yellow creeps in. Instead of the end goal of a very tidy and neat blue and white cyanotype, the end goal is a unique, completely imperfect print.
Fine art prints are printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, a 100% cotton paper that is of the highest quality and reproduces colors beautifully and vividly, making the final print look almost as though it were an original.
